Juliet is in her room laying on her bed. She is looking out the window how the trees move and  the birds sing. She gets out of bed and walks through her dressing room. She sees her favourite violet dress and but she prefers to wear it for an important occasion. Later, Nurse and her mother enter the room, and they began to speak.  When she sees her desk she realizes that is all messed up with her paintings and some books. Suddenly the Nurse enters the room to talk with Juliet. 

In this scene, Juliet knows that the Nurse and his mom are talking about Juliet’s marriage. She knows that Paris will be her pretendent. She believes that she is very young to have a husband. She prefers to wait for some years. Juliet loves the Nurse but every time she talks, she realizes how vulgar the Nurse´s way of speaking is. She also notices that the lady knows her better than his mother.  

Juliet feels confused about the fact that she does not want to get married yet, although her mother wishes her to do so. She also feels this way because she realizes her opinions are not being respected, as in fact she was not interested in marrying Paris, but she was forced by her mother, who said at her age she was already a mother. 

Juliet is wondering if in any part of the discussion between her mother and the nurse  she is going to be consulted if she wants to get married to Paris or even if she wants to be a mother.
