Simply, it means that you can see media and question whether its true or false- what url is it? Is it really from an actual news source? Is it a current news story or it is from ancient times and being reused? Understanding the context, and analyzing the story it is telling you is a very important thing to do when reading any media.

Honey, it's 2017. Your whole world is made up with media! From posters in the bathroom to your mom trying to add you on social media! Even if you don't own a smartphone, you are still around media. It is important to understand the differences between the real and the fake. What your retweeting could make you look stupid- specially if what you are retweeting is fake!

Well, chances are if there is news on social media that is not from a news source that you have heard of? It's fake or old news being reused. People take pictures all the time and make fake news stories. People can make seriously biased new stories that go viral without you knowing that it is fake! Thoroughly read what you are sharing with the world! Take the seconds before you retweet things mindlessly to figure out if that news is fake!

Some simple clues could be if the news is made with the meme font? It's probably not true... Pictures with time stamps help to know if the story is current or not. Also, check for a url! If the url sounds funny or fake, it is. If you have never heard of a news station that has posted the article, do some more searching but chances are its fake! Now, sometimes real news stations make mistakes, but always double check!
