My Family's Water Footprint Results - Tuesday 3rd Grade by Carolyn Griffin

After completing the Water Footprint Calculator with a parent, share how many gallons of water per day your family uses. Next, scroll down below your results to find the three places where your family uses the most water. Read the "tips" offered in these three areas, and share one tip for each of the areas where your family uses the most water. See Mrs. G's example on the board to use as a guide.

Put a bucket in the shower while I am waiting for the water to warm up, and use the water for watering plants, flushing the toilet or cleaning up.
2. Install a greywater system. A grey water system will allow us to re-use the water from our sinks, washing machine and dishwasher for flushing toilets and watering plants outside.
3. We have a very big lawn. We can water the lawn when it’s cooler – in the early morning or late evening – to reduce water loss from evaporation.
4. Install solar panels to help the environment by getting electricity from the sun and not water. When everyone's power goes out, we will still have power.
