Explanation: Behaviorism says that children's' behaviors are learned through interactions with their environment. It says that children's behaviors can be shaped and learned according to what's around them.

Me as a learner: I always felt more happy when I walked into a classroom where I can tell the teacher took a lot of time and effort into decorating.

My philosophy relating to Behaviorism: I believe that children's environment has a lot to do with what they get out of their learning. Me as a learner: It was fun whenever my teacher would allow me and the rest of my class to pick out something we wanted to do instead of the teacher dictating everything, but sometimes I needed some guidance to stay on task.

My philosophy relating to Humanism: I think that it is important to a certain extent to allow kids their own choices, so they can feel more free and learn from their own and grow from their own choices. At the same time, I do not believe that this method should be used all day every day. There is always only one right answer. Data always backs up what is taught.

Explanation: All knowledge regarding matters of fact is based on the “positive” data of experience and  that beyond the realm of fact is that of pure logic and pure mathematics.  Positivism, similar to the scientific method, involves looking for factual explanations about things and events without resorting to hearsay or opinions.

Me as a learner: This method never worked for me.

My philosophy relating to Positivism: I do not agree with this teaching method. I believe that every child learns in different ways, and that there are several different ways to teach everyone. The plants-students- need to be checked on every day and watered with care. If the garden is cared for as it should, it will grow to be a beautiful field of tall plants and flowers. If gardens are taken good care of, they become fun and colorful. 

• Why do you want to be an educator? Because I believe that teachers make a big difference in this world, I want the rewarding feeling of knowing that I helped shape a child into becoming a better person.
• What qualities make an effective educator? A good educator needs to have patience, love, and understanding for their students.
• What is the role of the educator in the classroom? An educator should be a good role model and be able to guide the students into the right direction.
• Describe the atmosphere in an effective classroom? One that is filled with smiles and colors.
• What would I expect to see if I stopped by your classroom on any given day? You should expect students who are engaged because they are having fun while learning.
• How do you assess diverse students in your classroom? When it would come to special needs students, I would follow how their IEP tells me to asses them.
• What is the purpose of school in relationship to society as a whole? School is the foundation of society. This is where children learn to become active rolls in society. If not taught the right way, society will crumble.

This idea connects to teaching because it is up to the teacher to help students reach these high standards. This is why I do not agree with positivism. There is not only one way to teach students, because everyone learns differently. As a teacher I will be sure to change my explanations and strategize methods based on the students capability of understanding in order for them to achieve high standards. My belief is that all students deserve an equal shot at learning. This is where equity plays an important roll in education. Some students may need more resources than others in order to achieve high standards, with these resources they will be capable. The resources may include extra time on tests, tutoring recommendations (and/or reduced tutor charges), and any other tools that may benefit understanding. Part of the reason I want to become an educator is so that I can help students who have been told in the past that they are not capable. I want to see them succeed and conquer what they have been told is impossible. My philosophy relating to Essentialism: I believe that this theory is essential to creating good people in society. It is important to learn about the cultures of other people in the world and even in our communities. When this is learned at a young age, it will become normalized for everyone to have different cultures and beliefs.
