There are a lot misconceptions about demons and mental health- which is actually spiritual health, but, since the world knows the most about the body and the conscious mind, they assume its to do with that. Meanwhile, they've had little to no symptoms or feelings of a bad nature before it came to be with them; or if they have its deemed epilepsy or schizophrenia. A common symptom of schizophrenia is believing you are Jesus or the Devil or both depending on the time- Demon probably taking amusement in making some people think Jesus could actually be bad.This would be the demon playing with their belief system and since clairvoyance comes with possession, it makes it all too easy for them to become involved with the demon itself or drive themselves a bit crazy with the thoughts it places in their minds. The demons will actually laugh at the fact they made that happen and are still around to cause more damage as they do. Also, when they bring up Anneliese, he falsely states the family denied medical treatment and that she was starving herself, although, they actually pushed it all the way through holding on to the hope that it would do something and she did eat copious amounts but to no avail.Some may think its confusing of correlation with causation, but truly, it was them thinking it was mental health issues was where the confusion was at.
