Caroline - "Askew"

Askew is my favorite word because it makes me laugh. I also use it a lot to describe my life. Askew means "out of line". Life is a wild ride and I have found it better to embrace the mess and laugh when things aren't going my way. Askew is a more light hearted way of saying "my life is falling apart". By saying that things in my life are askew, I feel more capable of putting everything back in line.

Mia - Bubble

My favorite word is "bubble!" No matter how loud or angry you try to sound while saying this word, I think it still sounds cute and silly every time. It's a very fun word that reminds me of blowing bubbles in the spring and summer when I was a child. It feels good thinking about those memories. It also reminds me of how young students sometimes "put a bubble in their mouth" when walking in the halls.

Rebecca- "Bliss"

Bliss is my favorite word because it's also my favorite state of mind to be in. When I think of bliss I think of how my dog feels when I rub her tummy or scratch her behind her ears. Obviously, I wouldn't feel the same way if someone were to do that to me, but I feel that same sense of bliss when my mind is at peace. To me, it's kind of like happiness in it's purest and truest form.

Abby - "Chuckle"

Chuckle is one of my favorite words because I use it all of the time and I chuckle every day. It's a form of laughter but less aggressive and noticeable. I chuckle whenever I recall a funny memory, or think about something funny I could say. The word itself is funny to me. Chuckling feels like an inside joke and like Kevin, I always experience happiness when I chuckle.

Alyssa-- "Noob"

This is something super immature, but it is just such a funny word to me, and it always makes me laugh. My younger siblings love to play roblox, so this word was thrown around my house quite a lot while I was in high school. I feel like calling someone a noob makes them focus on the word itself more than the meaning, and immediately makes the conversation funny or light hearted.

Ashley- "Cringe"

The word cringe is so funny to me and has been one of my favorites in the past but recently has become a top favorite of mine again since starting student teaching in 5th grade. The say "cringe" to pretty much everything and will even call themselves cringey when they realize they said something weird or silly. I also find myself cringing at myself when trying to find my way in 5th grade and I get humbled by them and it kind of just makes me laugh.

Jordan - "Egregious"

I like the word egregious because it just recently became apart of my vocabulary from a colleague, but despite its intellectual flare, it is actually a very practical word you can use that is fun to say! This word can make you sound super scholarly, even though "egregious" is basically the same as using the word outrageous. Though I don't use this word often, I love having it on queue in my mind! Gilmore Girls is also one of my favorite shows and I had never noticed that they used this word!

Charisma- Dianna Davis

I enjoy the word charisma because of its unique spelling. To me, this word is a description for those who handle interactions and conversations with ease, beautifully. I also enjoy how slang has shortened this word to just “rizz” and uses it in different ways (as a verb for example).

Kailey- "Nap"

As of right now, my favorite word is nap. I enjoy the word nap because I am EXHAUSTED at the end of my days, and taking a nap, in my cozy, warm bed is all I want to do. Although I don't nap often, (because I don't want to ruin my sleep schedule), it truly is something that I think about doing all of the time, as do my students.

My favorite word is "love". I am a big sucker for love, and I simply love love. I believe love is one of if not the strongest force in this universe. I enjoy watching movies, shows, and reading books about it. It brings me a sense of peace and hope. There is a lot of evil and people who are hurting in this world, but I believe love is a starting point to mend these issues. With love, anything is possible.

In college, it's easy to want to fast-forward to the weekends and to spend time with friends, but serendipity is about finding joy in the unexpected.

Aurora is my favorite word for many reasons! The word Aurora reminds me of my grandpa and the trips he used to take to Alaska for fishing, during which he would take picture of the aurora borealis. The phenomenon is so interesting and unique to me. I also think the way the word is spelled and pronounced is super cool! Even though I am not the biggest fan of Sleeping Beauty, I think the name Aurora is so beautiful.

Doyeon - "Gratitude"

I love the word gratitude because it seems like a more elegant way of expressing my thankfulness. I use this word quite often because I find myself being thankful for a variety of things in my everyday life. I feel like the word "thankful" does not express my feelings to the right extent, which is why "gratitude" is my favorite word. I like this word because it does a better job of expressing my gratefulness in life.

My favorite word is interesting. This is my favorite word because it is a word I say a lot. When I’m texting or speaking to someone in person I respond to a lot of conversations with interesting. It is my go to word when I don’t know what to say or when I actually find what we are talking about is interesting. I also still struggle to spell this word most of the time, I get the e and r’s messed up constantly.
