https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3NWIBQ0buw
This video shows how looks impact whether you get the job or not. It shows that employers hire women based on their looks and people with the required qualifications or more do not get the job just because of their looks. This video talks about how this is considered a halo effect. If the person is good in looks, they'll be good at work too. This isn't the reality though after a few days of working, the employers will figure out that they judged too soon and made a mistake but by the time they want the other qualified person they would be long gone to a better employer.

Social media conveys images of people who are considered more attractive which are people who are young, thin, tall and have regular facial features. An example of discrimination based on appearance is when the employer thought that an over weight person can't be a manager because people who are obese are considered unproductive. The employer does not know the person yet they judged them so fast that they decided they weren't fit for the manager position just by looking at them. Attractive people are paid 12% more than average salary and unattractive people are paid 11-15% under average salary. This can cause employers loss of productivity and legal risk for discrimination and employees to feel isolated. If employers see beyond appearances they will hire and keep productive and suitable employees.

It showed that if the manager just stopped and asked Bob what was going on in his life rather than judging him it would've caused Bob less distress. This video relates to beauty bias because most managers have the same pre-judged thoughts when they first see a person in an interview. They might think that just because they look that way means that they're in a gang or since they're pretty they'll be good at the job too but in reality looks dont matter. The things going on in ones' life and their personality are the things that matter more than their looks. People will judge a person solely on their looks but people are so much more than that.

https://www.healthyway.com/content/the-beauty-bias/
We live in a society that praises physical appearance. Most of us spend a lot so we can look like famous celebrities whether its through clothing or changing our body. We were taught about how important attractiveness is from when we were a baby. The messages adults tell their children is how important it is to look good and that better people are those who are better looking. Kid stories such as the Ugly Duckling teach kids that the duckling is only accepted once he turns into a beautiful swan. This leads kids to start thinking that you must be attractive to be famous, rich and admired. They will associate beauty with happiness and the attractive kids are more confident while the unattractive kids are more introverted. People judge unattractive people and think that they are dull, uninteresting, less intelligent and less trustworthy without even talking to them.

For example, for waitresses and receptionists employers hire attractive people because they're the face of the company/ business and they want people to be pleased with the employees providing them service. Yet for a regular office job where you only fill out paperwork a variety of people are chosen because appearance doesn't matter for that job.

More attractive people get paid more and get specific jobs . However, looks do not always work in favour for the future employee. Some employers prefer less attractive employees, only if it increases the employers chance of success.

He is also comparing the girl in the glasses to the other girl which can cause the girl in glasses so many insecurities. Women aren't born to be the same, society has to stop acting like their beauty image is the only acceptable way of how a women or anyone can look. People can get extremely depressed over something they were born with and don't have enough money to change. The girl with glasses's facial expression shows how impossible it is for her to look like her and how shocked she is being compared to her.

It states that less attractive people are less smarter, funnier and likable than attractive people. This could be from the fact people want to be attractive so they will only want to be seen with more attractive people to boost up their popularity. Everyone wants to be attractive so they will hang around attractive people to figure out how they're that way. In this picture you can tell that people are praising the attractive man but they are talking bad about the unattractive man. They will not be able to tell if either of them is smart or not just by looking at them but just because he's attractive they think hes smarter too. Looks deceive people in so many ways yet people still judge someone based on their looks.

Two signs that stood out to me were the " we're ugly but we are people" and " your beauty oppresses me". The "we're ugly but we are people" sign stood out to me because sometimes when people discriminate someone they forget that the person is a person just like them and that they have real feelings. The "your beauty oppresses me" sign stood out to me too because it talks about how they're being oppressed just because someone is more beautiful than them according to society. We need to stop putting people down for not being like someone else. If everyone was the same no one would be different and we will all be walking clones
