https://padlet.com/jmorris139/8n3vcbnz1861zgjy Made with curiosity! en-us 2022-05-17 21:53:29 UTC 2022-05-18 21:29:40 UTC hello@padlet.com https://padlet.net/icons/png/1f605.png https://padlet.com/jmorris139/8n3vcbnz1861zgjy/wish/2190172378 I loved being able to build my kite.  In all honesty I didn't leave enough time to be able to redevelop my kite yet, however, I know that I want to make some changes.  My kite was a bit heavy.  It was able to be pulled through the air (thanks to a too short string) but did not fly on its own.  I think the structure of my kite was good with the popsicle sticks as a body to add sturdiness but with my string being too short, the amount of duct tape (did not have anything else) and the amount of popsicle sticks I used made it a tad too heavy.  My kite was not proportionate so this definitely needs to be reworked! It was nice to get outside, breathe in the fresh air, see all the insects and growth thats happened this week. This also brought me back to my childhood when my parents took us to fly kites every Easter and Mother's Day. The wind kept changing direction so I tried to run in a bunch of different directions... I almost got it in the air. I'm not sure if the lack of success was due to my kite building "skills" or user error, hahaha. When I was creating this last night, my husband and I were remembering when we took our kids to Anna Maria Island in

I didn't have string, so I tied together ribbons. It was a blast to try running with the kite and finding the direction of the wind. My kids were very intent on adding to my kite by making a special handle to hold onto. It also became a social skills activity with turn taking, problem solving for when the handle broke off, and ways to make the kite better. Our idea was to lighten the kite. (The glow sticks were apparently too heavy...lol). I enjoyed everyone's excitement and seeing the tiny bit of "lift" the kite got. My puppy loved watching it. It wasn’t flying as high as I thought it might but I believe that was the placement of the wooden stick.
