The reason for the appearance of this temple became a well-known legend with the finding of the native princely hunting grounds for the lost of the king's Falcon the Falconer Tryphon by Patrikeeva, who under pain of death, was given the task - to find the favorite bird of the Grand Duke. In his dream, Saint Tryphon appeared to him and miraculously returned the Gyrfalcon to his namesake. Ostensibly Falconer Tryphon in gratitude to the Saint vowed to build in this place of finding the dearest bird temple in his honor, which he did soon.

The Church of the Intercession in Fili is a five-tiered centric temple, built in the style of the Naryshkinsky Baroque. The building of the temple with a four-petalled plan of the two lower tiers is girdled at the level of the podklet by an arcade of gulbischa. Three wide open porches lead to it from three sides. One building combines a winter and a summer temple and a bell tower. Bells hang in the spans of the upper, fifth tier.
According to 5 temple, the village of Fili was called Pokrovsky.
In July 1941 the church was closed, the last service was held on July 12. In order to disguise themselves from the air raids, the chapters and the upper tier were dismantled.Until 1943, the lower church was used as an infirmary, then, until 1963, as a warehouse of paper products. In 1955, the restoration of the temple began, which ended in the mid-1980s.
A major role in the restoration of the monument was played by the restorers E. V. Mikhailovsky and I. V. Ilyenko.
In 1971, the temple was leased to the Museum. Andrei Rublev, after which he established a branch of the museum, which opened in 1980 to the Olympics.
Since 1991, the community of believers sought the opening of the temple for worship; The first service (moleben) in the lower Church of the Intercession was performed on October 14, 1992.The decision 2000г. On the transfer of the lower church to the parish on April 13, 1994, the parish priest, Priest Boris Mikhailov, was appointed, but the regular services were not resumed.
After years of disputes, on March 28, 2000, the government issued Order No. 464-r on the joint use of the temple; Regular worship services resumed in the lower church.
Currently, the iconostasis, many icons, the wall painting of the lower church belong to the XVIII-XIX century. The original iconostasis of the lower church was not preserved.

The community of the church was founded in 1626, when a new community separated from the old Moscow Lutheran community of the saint under the leadership of pastor Jacob Neuenburg. In 1632, the first church of the community near Chistye Prudy was demolished. The second church stood for 10 years. In the German settlement, the Lutheran prayer house was re-established, in place of which in 1664 a small wooden church was built In 1667 this church was demolished and in the same place a large wooden church was built. On his money, as well as on the Emperor Alexander I, who granted a loan of 40,000 rubles, began the reconstruction of the house bought for the church, the construction of a dome and a cross. In 1905, the church was consecrated as a cathedral of the Moscow Consistorial District.
