Looking back on the artefact that I chose; I reflect on how I was able to capture a parallaxes experience towards a place I had visited on namouras occasions. Usually when I go to this destination, I will sit in my car and play music – while just looking at the city life Infront of me. This time for me it was completely mind changing.

Driving up the hill I connected with my surroundings, observing two tree’s side by side as I drove threw them. My imagination took hold as I delved deeper in drama, considering the tree’s to be gates to an unknown world.

Arriving to the top, stepping out of my car, and immersing myself in the moments, I felt the hearing sensations of the crickets around me.

The sounds of the crickets allowed me to connect with their language and take me on a journey of an imaginative roller coaster just as I would as a child.

As a child I would create stories or make games with just the resources around me, this experience was able to bring me back to that as I explored the “what could be” in the environment. This reminded me of the reading the hundred languages of children (Carolyn Pope Edwards, 2011, p.298) Where it’s explained the importance of the “atelier” where they can use natural fibres within education to prompt a child to use their expression within creativity to grasp more of an understanding and meaning of the resources around them.

I explored my environment in a different way, as this time it was dedicated to night-time, where as a child that would be something I would fear. Shadows of a coat hanging or sounds of the possums scratching on the roof would scare me during the dark when I was younger.

So, to explore this atmosphere and imagine a new world at night really allowed me to reflect the separate mind sets of an adult vs a child, and how we can support children to explore all aspects of their world with just the resources that are around them, while investigating their emotions and feelings during that moment. This is why I chose to express my creative response as a “bedtime story” where the child and/or adult can close their eyes and really connect spiritually to the story and how they interpret it without any prompt apart from the storyteller.

The combination of darkness and the lights twinkling in the distance gave me the idea of what the lights reminded me of – this being stars. Once I made this connection my mind took me on a story telling journey, imagining the stars fell from the sky, creating a map of lights leading me to pirates.

Smaller artefacts supported my story along the way as I stood on leaves, pretending these were the maps to find treasure and the traffic being participants in my game to find the treasure also.

All together my experience lasted for approximately 15minutes before my story came to an end, I was able to heavily reflect on how I will now emerge in spaces in the future. Delving deeper into children’s imaginative languages of sound, movement and drama and become a part of this experience with them to enhance creativity, freedom, and confidence within a child. This is belief of (Wooten, 2013) as he explains about how we can use our knowledge to rise others up to the occasion, allowing them to feel confident and free in their abilities.
