The book Bomb makes me wonder how our future changed all in an instant. The United States wanted to avoid the War, but when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, we declared war. The United States was already working on an atomic bomb in secrecy when the possibly of Germany building an atomic bomb as well reached the ears of the President. The race had begun. Spies were all over each other's territory to get any information possible. We won the war by bombing Japan, but that didn't stop our thirst for power. Globally, we have created atomic bombs that could cause a major impact in our lives if we were to enter a nuclear war.

What I first thought about the Atomic Bomb was that it was all of Japan's fault that they were bombed with the A-Bomb. But actually, it was partially the United States fault as well. I understood why they used the first bomb "Little Boy," but they should've given Japan more time on choosing to surrender or not, before dropping the bom, "Fat Man." Because of the United States' impatient decision to drop the second bomb, an estimated one-third of their population was killed, most of them civilians.

Video and Article link:
http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii/bombing-of-hiroshima-and-nagasaki

I think it was interesting how the Soviets knew they would never catch up to the USA and Germany in terms of making nuclear weapons, so they immediately planned on how they could steal information. They had great physicists, enough materials, and everything else needed to make a nuclear bomb. This was demonstrated through the creation of Tsar Bomba. The real question is why didn’t they make the bomb sooner? One theory I’m starting to grow is that they didn’t make a nuclear weapon at the same time as the USA and Germany is because they were still trying to grasp the idea of how they could split atoms to make extremely powerful bombs, they were still trying to figure out what the US was doing to make their bombs. They must’ve used the information stolen from the US, changed the process a little, then created Tsar Bomba.

It will be even more horrendous now that technology has advanced and even more than a city can be destroyed in a matter of seconds. The text also made me wonder which people know about these important topics because one the president that went into power didn’t even know that they had atomic bombs but still used it. I can see why they had agreed to this. They had believed that the lives gone by this atomic bomb would've been less than what would have happened if the war had continued on any longer. Of course they do have regrets of dropping the atomic bomb. They didn't know just how truly powerful it was when dropped on an actual city. A quote from Captain Roderick Lewis (co-pilot) "My god, what have we done?" My only other thought on this is. Would they do it again? Knowing what the damage would be, the lives taken, and the results of the city.

There was also the Fat man and many more bombs that weren't just created by the U.S.
And did you know that their still making many more types of Atomic/Nuclear bombs that could do a thousand times worse than the first bomb. . and their still being tested!

The text says scientist were told theories about the atomic bomb by Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein was frightened that Germany would figure out how to create the bomb first, after he concluded that such a bomb could be made. US President Franklin Roosevelt set up the Manhattan Project when he was aware by Einstein about the bomb. The project was a development for the atomic bomb. Once the bomb became more real the US wanted to make sure they were the first to build the bomb. So, they added scientist and funding to the project. There were around 200,000 people involved in the project and around $2 billion from funding when the program ended.
