He uses the unorthodox teaching methods. Encouraging his learners to make their lives extraordinary. Which is a sentiment he summarized with the Latin expression Carpe Diem, " seize the day". He also believes that his learners must see things from a different perspective or point of view, he does this by allowing his learners to stand on top of his desk in order to view things differently, instructing them to rip out the introductory page of their poetry book. He encourages them to be individuals by inviting them to make up their own style of walking in a court yard. He also believes that they should live their lives on their own terms.

The teacher never gave up on the learners, she believed in them even when everyone had already given up on them. This is evident in the scene when she was told that her learners would not read the book, instead of listening to her colleagues she ordered one hundred and fifty copies of books. At first it was difficult for her to encourage the students to read but gradually they began to read, and that led to them changing their behaviors and refusing to give up on themselves
