In the book Horton hatches the egg. Horton never gave up. One part in the story that Horton never gave up is during the storm. Another example of when Horton didn't give up is in the winter. The last time in the story where Horton never gave up is when the hunters came and took her away.

One part of the story when horton never gave up is when the storm comes, for example in the book it says this, “he sat all day and he kept the egg warm and he sat all that night through a terrible storm,it poured and it lightninged it thundered it rumbled this isn't much fun the poor elephant grumbled, I wish she'd come back cause I'm cold and I'm wet. I hope Mayzie bird doesn't forget." This shows that even if Horton wants to leave he doesn't because he didn't give up. Even if he is really wet and really cold he keeps his word and keeps the egg safe. Another example of how Horton is brave is that he kept saying, “I meant what I said and I said what I meant, an elephant's faithful one hundred percent. That can also show that horton never gave up because some people would just leave and let the egg die, but horton did not lie and he did not let the egg die, and he did not leave the egg to be by itself.

Another part of the story were horton didn't give up was in the winter, one example is in the story it said, “So horton kept sitting there day after day and soon it was autumn the leaves blew away, and then came the winter the snow and the sleet and icicles hung from his trunk to his feet but horton kept sitting and said with a sneeze ill stay on this egg and I won't let it freeze. That shows that Horton was very determined to keep the egg safe and not let it die. Also normally elephants will migrate so they don't get cold so that shows horton does not want the egg to freeze.

The last time Horton never gave up was when the hunters came. For example the book says this, “no matter what happened the egg must be tended but poor hortons troubles were far far from ended for while Horton sat there so faithful so kind three hunters came sneaking up softly behind! He heard the mens footsteps, He turned with a start three rifles were aiming straight right at his heart! This shows that Horton is also brave and caring to stay with the egg. Another example is how the text also says this “Did he run? He did not! Horton stayed on that nest, he held his head high, he threw out his chest and he looked at the hunters as much to say shoot if you must but I won't run away!” That shows as well that Horton is very very very brave and it shows that he would die to save the egg.

As you can see in all of the examples that I showed you Horton is very committed to keeping the egg safe. He also needs many characteristics to do this job Like I said before most people would run away and leave the egg to die but Horton did not do that.
