The man is wearing a hat which looks very unique, it has a part which covers his forehead and different designs all over it. These designs could be a mark of his tribe or something related to his overall culture and people. The hat could also be symbolized as something which identifies him as a specific person amongst his people due to how unique it is. He has a cloth wrapped around his neck, it sort of looks like a tie because of how it is represented. His clothing looks like it may be a thin sweater, showing that this picture was taken in a setting that was not too cold, the reason this statement is being made is due to the amount of pictures of Inuit people wearing fur coats. Most importantly, it’s the look on his face and how even with just seeing one of his eyes, it is evident that he is looking at something, he is focused and calm. This is a photo of my brother (Chris) on a family trip in California. I feel very connected to this photo because of the fact that my mom was pregnant with me during this time. As the youngest sibling, I saw Chris as the "big kid", and growing up, I always looked up to him. The papers could be messages or prayers which she hopes will be read and answered. This could be hoping for the water levels to rise, rain to fall or just overall change. The dark but vibrant colours are eye catching due to the subtle and quiet background. The mask being worn could be used to depict a spirit animal or an animal which needs to be paid attention to within a certain part of the world. The lightly cloudy but clear sky gives a great look at the moon. Furthermore, the aura of the picture is matched but the leafless trees and water reflecting a colder climate. Muybridge displays all his photos separately, like a contact sheet, whereas Marey seems to have all of his photos merged into one image. Muybridge used a system of multiple cameras and displayed it as a series of photographs, while Marey had developed a camera that shot multiple images on one photographic plate. The idea that it is not imaginative is ignorant and comes from a different perception when compared to science. Science is based on the concept that- it is what it is, it can be proven, it is not about imagination but about what can be proved. Photography is not what you see is what you get, it is what you see and can be made to capture to be perceived in a more stunning way. As a photographer, the perception, creativity and substance you create within your picture can be different for you and every other person viewing it. Firstly, both photographers truly showcase the amount of passion they have for the work they are doing, the pictures provide a story and that may not be straightforward but easily depicts what it is representing. Most these pictures are similar in representing indigenous people in their lands, the places they live and cherish. Providing a view of their environment and showing how it is being affected by climate change whilst overall including the connection the indigenous people have to these places.
