TikTok is an application for creating and sharing short videos. In TikTok videos are tall, not square and you navigate through videos by scrolling up and down. You don’t know what kind of video is waiting for you next and the videos will never run out. Especially this makes the app so engaging and addictive.

I recommend TikTok as an application I have been engaged with. The app works by showing you videos and you swiping up to see more videos. The algorithm shows more the kinds of videos you have engaged with, creating different sub-cultures inside the app. I recommend it as a escapism, since the videos tend to be funny and relaxing. It is a quick way to rewind and de-stress.

It's hard to keep customers engaged, because there are so many companies, options, social media and marketing channels nowadays. Customers receive numerous marketing messages daily and therefore it can be hard to stand out.

I don't like this application, because it is slow-paced and the target group has shifted towards middle aged people. the application steals ideas and content from different platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, stealing revenue from content creators. It also has a bad reputation because of the controversies. The app would be better if it innovated itself in to a new category of social media and creating no space for misinformation, hatred and racism. The like/hate algorithm creates a hateful environment, because it shows you more content you don't like, which should be fixed.

It is hard to keep customers engaged because customers have so many good options and a constant need for entertainment and quick pace information. Customers lose their interest easily when they know that there is for sure an easier and faster option. That makes difficulties for companies to be constantly aware of the trends and the needs of the customer and react immediately.

Instagram has content that is similar with my interest and it has built up there for years. That is why I haven't switched up to TikTok yet. Even though TikTok is otherwise a good and engaging app, it takes too much time for it to learn my interest. When I open it first time it shows really unrelevant content for me. That's why I choose to stay with an app that already knows my interests and provides the same type of flowing video content.

Hotel booking website that has a clear app, levels and prises. Even though I might get something cheeper elsewhere, I'm hooked to them since they offer information clearly, are easy to use and I get those "level 2" discounts.

Algorithm shows you a content what it thinks you would like. You can follow interesting people and share storys and links to websites easily in Mystory. Instagram is comprehensive.

Youtube's content is very different to others, it has long videos (against TikTok, which has shorter videos) and longer videos makes more opportunities for people who uploads videos but also for the people who watches them. In the app you can browse memes from different sections, such as animals, or sports and there you can find theme related content shared by other users. I feel engaged towards the app, because it has managed to create such great community of people fooling around and joking.

Over the years Facebook has become a failed attempt to bring all the social media platforms together. Simply, there is too much of everything on Facebook. I mean ads, features, pages, add-ons, games, messenger, Facebook Stories, marketplace… Facebook should remove all "extra" features and go back to the point when simply communicating with friends created a engagement to the app.

In twitter you have the option to make tweets about yourself or about the society and post pictures or have a conversation. The application also works with phone or with computer just as easily. Youtube has gone downhill nowadays. Especially with their never ending adds. They are also trying to push everyone into buying the premium version, which we don´t need. The flow with youtube is not what it used to be. Before, you could watch video after video and maybe get lost in that world and now you have to stay alert to skip those 30 second adds every 3 minutes or so. Sure, you can still find almost anything there, but if the same material is to find elsewhere, that´s where I rather go.
