         <title>Tameside past and present</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>History of where Tameside came from:<br>Tameside's name came from the River Tame.&nbsp;<br>It was named and brought together 1st April 1974.&nbsp;<br>It brought all of the municipal boroughs together.&nbsp;<br>Tameside was the heart of the industrial revolution it was once a centre of cotton, engineering, coal mining and hatting. &nbsp;<br><br>With the introduction of masses of people from the city came issues such as:&nbsp;<br>-Poverty&nbsp;<br>-Poor Health issues&nbsp;<br>-Housing crisis/ conditions&nbsp;<br>-Issues with ASB/ substance misuse<br><br>Slum clearance in Manchester resulted in Tameside being an overspill area.&nbsp;<br><br>THESE ARE SOME OF THE SAME ISSUES WHICH TAMESIDE IS FACING NOW.&nbsp;<br><br>The population of Tameside currently is:&nbsp;<br>231,100 people&nbsp;<br><br>Tameside is known for being the home to serial killers.&nbsp;<br><br>One in particular: Harold Shipman.&nbsp;<br>It is estimated that he murdered 250 of his patients and possibly more.&nbsp;<br><br>This changed the practice of social care and health professionals nationally.&nbsp;<br>Following the Shipman Enquiry:<br>1. All health professionals will undergo periodic reassessment of their continuing fitness to practise.&nbsp;<br>2. For doctors, the current NHS appraisal system will be strengthened to include an explicit judgement about performance in relation to the required standards&nbsp;<br>3. For other health professions, revalidation will be based on existing information available to employers, supplemented where needed by additional information or assessments.&nbsp;<br><br>Mary Ann Britland from Ashton, was the first woman to be executed by hanging for murder <br><br>Angela Rayner is now Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.&nbsp;<br>Angela Rayner's Mum was a young parent at the age of 16.&nbsp;<br>Angela is currently a pioneer for the people of Tameside breaking stereotypes of people in power. &nbsp;<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>History of Salford what Salford is known for?<br>Salford is know for industrial revolution. <br>Salford and its neighbours grew along with the textile industry. Due to the industrial revolution Salford expanded from a Small market town into a major city. Huge expansion of mills, factory's alongside a 7huge rise in population. <br>The population grew from 12000 to 70244 in 30 years. Despite high employment in cotton mills there was lots of poverty. <br><br>Salford's history- The first record of Salford on the maps is 1169. Salford was granted its city status 1926.&nbsp; In <strong>Salford</strong>, the population size has increased by 15.4%, from around 233,900 in 2011 to 269,900 in 2021.<br><br>Famous political and activist from Salford. Ruth Throw 1922-2008 peace activist and historian of labour movement. Ruth cofounded the working class movement library. Emmeline Hankhurst 1858-1928 was a British political activist who organised the suffragette movement and helped women win the right to vote. In 1999 the times names her as one of the 100 most important people of the 20th centaury. Mr Big Paul Massey submitted a nomination to be Salford mayor however Paul was more famous for his under world dealings more than his political views.&nbsp;<br><br>How social care needs has been addressed in Salford.&nbsp;<br><br>In 2007 Salford introduced a health investment 'tomorrow programme'. This was a economy approach to to care pathway from secondary care to community and primary care.&nbsp;<br><br>In 2011 Salford Royal was approached by Advancing quality improvement to participate in a integrated care programme.<br><br>In May 2012 Salford started to deliver integrated care. This was to;&nbsp;<br>- Promote local community assets to support increased independence.&nbsp;<br>- Establishment of an ICC to provide navigation and support&nbsp;<br>- The formation of Millennium development goals (improving lives for the poorest people) and supporting older people at most risk.<br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
