Meet Captain Olivia Benson. She started out as the only female detective in this elite squad and worked her way up the ladder. This is a women that will always fight for the victims no matter how many tell her to drop the matter. She is the product of her mother's rape, been sexually assaulted twice, and his been held at gunpoint on multiple occasions. She is one of the main reasons that I watch this show because she is a reminder that there are good, kind, and hard working people that will fight for not just any victim that comes her way. But she will also fight for anyone who has been seriously wronged and will make the person responsible for their actions.

Detective Elliott Stabler is one of the those cops you would stay away from, but you would be wrong. Detective Stabler methods may be unorthodox but allows him to unsure that the victims get justice. He is also a family man with a wife and five children. He still makes time for rape victims, people of assault, and children who have been molested. This detective gives people hope that some cops will do whatever it takes to get justice.

Detective Fin Tutuola's story is pretty interesting sting he was not supposed be an SVU detective. Fin used to work for the NYPD narcotics unit who investigates drug dealers, smugglers, etc. He brought a different kind of flair to the unit. His character helps remind people that they are cops who look after minority people. Fin will not care who he burns he will sure black, brown, etc get the same amount of attention that whites do. Also what's interesting is that Fin has a son that is openly gay. Fin was not as accepting of his sons sexuality at first but learned to not only accept it but embrace it.

Amanda Rollins joined the SVU unit in season 13 coming to us from Atlanta Georgia. Amanda kind of had a rough start at first she has experienced much trauma in her life. Amanda has been raped by her boss while in Atlanta, had a major gambling problem, came from an abusive home, and take care of a sister that has bipolar disorder. What makes Amanda vital to the unit is that she is able to really connect with victims especially in a unit like the Special Victims Unit. She reminds that even though you think nobody understands what you are going through, your wrong someone does get it.

Sunny Carisi joined the Special Victims Unit in season 16. I will be honest at first we weren’t to sure that he will last in this unit, but he turned out to be one of the best. Carisi when he first joined was going to law school at night, this honestly bade him a better cop. With a detective learning the law he can make life easier for the other cops to look for evidence without possibility breaking the law. After five seasons on the show he is now an Assistant District Attorney. Carisi reminds people that even someone works in a company that seems to only care about themselves there is always that one who will break the rules to do the right thing.

Meet all the Assistant District Attorneys

Now what kind of crime show would it be without lawyers. Law and Order have had so many Assistant District attorneys they have done marathons on it. Most of the ADAs have good heart and want to make sure the guilty parties are put in jail for the rest of their lives. In my opinion their were four ADAs that were the absolute best. Alexandria Cabbot, Casey Novcak, Sonya Paxcon, and Rafael Barba. Alex Cabbot was their first real ADA she had a close relationship with the squad room and made sure that juries see the criminal for what they are are criminal. Casey Novcak replaced Alex when she had to go into the witnesses protection program, Casey wasn’t sure if she can handle SVU especially when it comes to children who were victims of sexual violence. But she did it and got justice for many people. Sonya Paxcon was a real stickler for the rules and at first made everyones life miserable. But when her alcoholism almost cost her job and her license she realized the error of her ways, and was able to really understand what these victims go through. At last but certainly not least Rafel Barba the funniest ADA the show has ever had. This guy made sure that he had the squad's backs no matter what. If a criminal was threatening one of the cops he was right there with them. These lawyers remind me that lawyers do not always screw you over sometimes they give you exactly what you need.

This world is filled a lot of depressing stuff and sometimes people do not over come it. Due to this it makes it very difficult to trust people. Law and Order takes events that took place in real life to display, sometimes the outcome is the same others it's in favor of the victims. That is what SVU does for me it gives me hope that sometimes the "light" can shine on me. Also I can learn about laws and what to do if heaven forbid I am a victim of a crime.
