Maggie enjoyed Herrera's PL on sub lessons and incorporated these ideas into her own lesson plans.

Practicing the interview was super helpful as well as reading a narrative biography before writing their own.

7th graders did scene study.

8th Graders did songs as monologues.

The goal was to highlight and mark their lines from specific theatre shows found online.

These worksheets helped identify high and low student understanding/data for future teachings.

Using the templet, we're identifying the "what we're doing", Teacher Role, and Students Role. Includes the Rules and the Safety Rules. Displays them in the gym for anyone to see!

Specifically for coming up with captions for the upcoming yearbook.

Students seem to be improving their writing skills and coming up with creative and unique titles and and quotes.

Teaching students how to read systems and lead up eventually into reading the whole score. Additionally, how to recognize multiple parts within the octavo.

Students are expected to highlight their individual parts and write solfege syllables within the text.

A common theme I am noticing is getting students on Blooket to practice vocabulary fluency and/or math fluency.

One next step for me would be to learn more about iXl to improve my 1st and 6th hours.

Formal assessment have been a theme where everyone is at with their classes/ one next step for me is making a system to make it organized for students.

I really think everyone has appreciated the extra time to collaborate with others.

I am teaching the Force in Motion unit where the students will plan an investigation on their own. They will go through the entire Scientific Method.

It's interesting to see how different students and their backgrounds influence which songs they might already know!

Students are creating a one pager over Freak the Mighty. They are being asked to make a claim to answer the essential question. Then support their claim with evidence from the text and give reasons for each piece of evidence. They also have to include at least one image to support their claim. The rest of the expectations for their one pager are basic one pager instructions

Students were able to be creative with their claims papers by turning them into one pagers so this made them finding their claims, evidence, and reasons easier for them as in they were more willing to do it.

I did not have students write a paper to give their claim this time and they had more fun being creative and most of them were able to be very successful with this project.

I did help them with navigating Canva so I could eliminate the technology being a hurdle in their work. This helped most of them feel more successful with the technology.

Next time I would spend one day prior to assigning the one pager to introducing and explicitly teaching Canva. I know some of them know it and I would use them to help me teach it by partnering them up to do an easy Canva task while learning the tools on Canva.

I have tweaked the one pager to include different things. I found the students are more focused and put more effort into the assignments.

One tip - have them do a planning page BEFORE letting them start the one pager.

It went very well because the kids liked being able to pick their own type of theme park and they didn't feel like everything was centered around math.

One tip would be to try to allow some time for them to create a 3D model of their theme park or one of the rides, etc.

One theme I saw is a lot of projects that let students choose their topics or roles for themselves.

My lesson introduced my Holocaust unit. I start with a social emotional lesson about emotional regulation techniques when experiencing anxiety or overwhelm. We brainstormed ideas as a class (taking a shower, talking to a friend, listening to music, writing about it, knowing your neighbors, etc.). Then students decorated a butterfly as I gave some historical context for the Holocaust and World War II. Students are quick to make connections and have questions about the topic, so I structured the remainder of the lesson as an informal q & a with the students. I left time at the end of the hour for students to write additional questions for us to discuss the following class period. The butterflies will hang around the classroom and serve as visual reminders of the tools we have as a community to help each other through difficult times and difficult topics.
