  • He was an uncanny ability to think very clearly in this scary and stressful time
  • He was able to duck flying bullets and canons
  • The soldiers aren't chasing after him, they appear to just stand there and keep shooting
  • The soldiers haven't caught up to him in the forest even though they saw where he went and he must be very slow and weak
  • He escaped to the forest
    • I'm pretty sure he's been dead the whole time.
