I specifically took a liking to this story because of the change of heart planners had when finally bringing the project to fruition. Originally in the 1990s, the old highway was flagged for removal as an economic opportunity was realized. An income-generating cause was the only incentive. But a decade later, planners also observed a chance to give back to the local community. And so a new gaming cafe, new four-story-tall apartments, a hotel, and a modern museum surrounding the concept of "Play" were fully planned and constructed. The new area was also designed to be very walkable.

A thoughtful and important thing was done for the community, with new 1st spaces (affordable living places and hotel dwellings), potential 2nd places (the jobs being created from the gaming cage and hotel), and a 3rd place where fun can be had (the modern museum). If you are a planner, you should plan smart to support the people. People and commutes come first. Always.
