 that will never be shared with the rest of the community. You have so many memories of happier times, times with color, and hills, and snow, and with animals. The burden of all of those memories causes pain since no one else will ever be able to experience that.

He then moves on to ask what if “‘They chose their own job?’”(124) This quote made me realize that Jonas’s community doesn’t have the amount of freedom to make their own decisions that our world does. The community doesn't really know anything about actual life because they live in sameness. Not seeing color is one thing the community doesn't even know about.
