In this padlet I will describe how a song can be made in a way that makes it completely separate from it original form. This shows that both content and interpretations of music can almost be endless. In chapter 10, Ratliff describes how every band can have hundreds of recordings of the same song but how each one can be a new experience. This concept can be similarly found in John Coltrane's version of "My Favorite Things". This song could be originally found in the hit musical "The Sound of Music". The contrasting styles show us how a song can be changed and create a whole new experience for the listener. The jazz and improvisation style of John Coltrane's song allows for a happy tone but adds a newer twist to this timeless classic. Both allow for a sense of happiness but give the listener two different paths to get to that emotion.
