I felt that the Top Teacher lesson plan gives us the insight and tools on how to plan a lesson in a shorter amount of time. This might be useful when having to make last minute changes to a lesson or having to create a lesson without much notice. I think that including the student cards was helpful in how we planned our instruction. I also found it helpful that we shared our lesson plans with the class, and were able to see others ideas about where they would take this indicator and how they would use it to guide their instruction and student engagement. The immediate feedback was helpful but we did not receive as much as the other groups. It was nice to hear their feedback and to be able to use that to guide my further instruction or planning. I also found it very helpful that you showed us an example of the hot/cold lesson plan and what you are looking for when we are doing ours and turning it in.

I like the idea of lesson planning and seeing how other teachers think about their lessons, but I think that because of time constraints many of us had very similar lesson plan ideas so we didn't get to see the amount of different ways of thinking that I was hoping for.

I think that the biggest take away is that there are so many ways to approach our science standards. I thought the activity was great because we got to see how each group member thought through a lesson plan. I would allow for a silent reading time so that all 30 minutes can be used to plan instead of spending time reading the directions and materials.

I love creating lesson plans and getting immediate feedback. The feedback from Dr. Carnes and my peers were helpful, particularly when Rachel brought up a great question about why we all use "Get Started" and "Exit Tickets" in our lesson plans. It helps to know where I stand in my planning (i.e. Do I think of good ideas? Am I at the same level as my peers?).

However, it would have been very helpful if we had different indicators. It would have allowed us to get different ideas from each other, when the majority of groups today thought of similar activities to other groups.
