In Greece, Christmas is a very important celebration.It indicates the birth of Jesus!These days the people are very happy and follow the regional traditions.More especially, we decorate a christmas tree, or a small ship(which is the traditional greek custom).Moreover, we prepare special foods such as a turkey & special sweets such as "Μelomakarona, Kourampiedes"!

The 8th of December , the day of the "Immacolata concezione" Our Lady's festivity , in our town they usually make up an ice skating rink and until the end of January we have the possibility to skate. They also build stalls where you can buy food.

Christmas is our favourite festivity, not only for presents and food but because it's a good moment to spend time with our families and friends without thinking about job or school. My family and I celebrate Christmas joining all together. We all meet at my grandparents´ house on Christmas Eve and on New Years´ Eve. We eat the twelve grapes together and we have a lot of fun.
Something that I enjoy doing during Christmas is decorating my house. My family and I always put a tree over a table in the living room. We decorate the tree with some ornaments: a star, some balls and a blue tinsel at the bottom of the tree. We also put two nativities in front of the tree. One is made up of little figures from the eggs Kinder Sorpresa.

In my family we started Christmas with Santa Claus. On the twenty-fourth we went out with friends and had dinner together waiting for him, the Christmas afternoon we spent it in family. In my family is traditional to have dinner together at my grandparents' house in New Year's Eve and to eat in New Year. In Spain also, on the afternoon of January 5 we see the cavalcade since that night the Three Wise Man come to bring us gifts!
