An audio-visual fill-in-the-gaps listening exercise. Students listen to the lyrics of the song to fill in the correct verb in the past tense, while the lyrics also appear written on the video. Nice for some fun practice with the past tense.

This is the one I created. Students watch the video and then complete a short activity, where they listen to some questions I wrote which employ the past simple or continuous and must give short answers in full sentences using the appropriate tense form and vocabulary. My aim was to make this whole game as auditory as possible to suit at least the auditory learners' learning style.

A very innovative activity, that it is not just focusing on past verb tenses, but some important theory as well. It is also a very interactive one, and conveys in a few, clear words most of the basic knowledge that students need to have about past tenses.

Students are free to use whatever verbs they want as long as they are suitable for the images. Verbs must be in simple past tense. The main purpose of this activity is to practise the Simple Past tense in an interesting and attractive way that is suitable for visual-auditory leaning styles and linguistic intelligence. Finding an appropriate video for the A1+ learners was a bit difficult since they will definitely have unknown words. However, it is a great opportunity to understand meaning in context which is, no doubt, an extremely useful skill and strategy.

In this activity, students have to decide whether the verbs given are in the Present or Past tense. The reason why I chose this activity is because it is a fun and pleasant way to revise the past tense in class. Students can also be divided into groups and the team that has the most correct answers wins! The activity is also perfect for visual and tactile learners. (Nikoleta Zisi)

Alexandra Konstantinidi-Τhis is an activity based on the concept of the game "hangman". Τhe students read the given sentence and have to fill in the gaps with the appropriate past form of the verb. For every letter that they guess wrong, a petal from the flower is erased. When there are no more petals, you lose. I believe this activity would be very exciting for the students especially if they were to be divided into two teams and keep score on how many words each team got right.

This is the activity that I designed and provides more information about the Vikings. Students are asked to read the text and fill in the gaps with the correct form of the verbs in the brackets using Past Simple. I encountered some difficulties in finding information that would best suit the proficiency level of my class, as there was not a big variety of videos that would do be of much assistance.

The students can play either by themselves or with a classmate. Each time the students answer correctly, their horse moves forward. The student that reaches the finishing line first is the winner. It would be ideal to use this activity when teaching a lesson in a computer room.

Anastasia Basli- The Ss are asked to watch a short clip taken from the movie "Hook" and therefore the activity is highly related to the school's text subject. After watching the clip, the Ss are asked some questions on the video and are expected to answer them by using the Past simple tense. This activity could be an entertaining way to practice grammar through watching(targets at visual learners)

It would be a nice activity to do towards the end of class to relax the students while still keeping them engaged. A good idea would be also to do similar activities at the end of each course and keep a score pyramid of the learners who have kept a perfect score. At the end of each semester, the top students would get a reward. That way, their motivation would increase.
