summary:
Nicholson was affected by GAD when her life practically fell apart. she had to give up on a lot of things because of that. she got put on medication and eventually ended up in a hospital after trying to commit suicide. Now, she's back on her feet, living a more than normal life and working for the awareness on GAD.
misconceptions:
- If you have an anxiety disorder, it is important to avoid stress and situations that make you feel “stressed"
- The causes of anxiety disorders are usually rooted in childhood, so effective therapy must focus on that time period.
- Some people are just worrywarts or neurotic, and there is nothing that can really make any difference.
