Scholarship:
Giving students options to write and read about what interests them. Students given technological help to support learning.Students were brought to Wolfe Island to learn about wildlife and the outdoors first hand. Apple Orchard trip to learn about the make-up of apples and how they are produced from orchard to the grocery store.

Stewardship:
Boomerang lunches in classrooms. Taking ownership of the classroom. Decorating walls, classroom jobs, keeping it tidy.
Winter jacket initiative, raising money to buy winter jackets for the less fortunate.
Trip to Wolfe Island to learn about nature.
Winter Olympic activity day promotes school wide sense of community, fun and stresses that school is more than simply academics.

Discipleship:
Multiple ways to interact with Catholic teachings: stories, videos, songs, dances, artwork, written work. Role modelling in classroom. Motivate students to do good deeds. Lead by example and show students how to act as a positive role model.
Kelso program promotes understanding of conflict resolution strategies to students.

STEWARDSHIP: we have been doing what we call Caring Hearts initiatives. In October/November, we learned about a animal sanctuary near Harrowsmith that was looking for donations of used jack-o-lanterns to feed their animals. Many of our families made the trip down Highway 38 to deliver their used pumpkins.
In December, as a class we collected pyjamas, socks, hats and mitts for women and children and then donated them to the Dawn's House shelter right near our school.
Our next initiative is upcycling used clothing to somehow meet the needs of our local community.
Discipleship: as a class we looked up various bible verses that had to do with God's relationship with His children. We discussed each one and then each child actually wrote a love letter to the world from God. Based on these letters, we are pulling out important sentiments that we need to express to each other as 'pencils' in the hand of God.

Scholarship: Students do a weekly self-reflection on themselves as learners most Fridays. These are sent home to be shared with parents.
We have been using Jo Boaler's Math Mindset videos etc to help students develop their growth mindset. Following the UDL guidelines, students are offered choice in how they demonstrate their understanding

Within each pillar, I look at the bullets and take pictures that provide evidence and 'show' what we are doing. I then write a small message in a bubble and attach it to the picture. These are posted in the classroom and on the school SIPSAW board.
We work in depth on one CGE for the duration of 1-2 months.
