At the beginning of the story, we jump right into the action. Our main character, Wyatt, falls into the river while white water rafting. Then, we have a flashback to when the guide, Brody, is teaching them safety on the raft. Wyatt and his brother are joking about falling in the water. His brother whispers, “Wouldn’t it be awesome to fall in?” (Robie 2). Then they go rafting. While rafting, they see and save another raft that is stuck. After that, Wyatt falls in the water. Wyatt remembers the instructor’s safety tips and is able to swim to another raft safely.

I liked the book. It was very action packed. The text says this when Wyatt falls in, “The water tossed him around, pummeling him...” (Robie 1). The only part I didn’t like about this book was that it was short. When I was starting to get into the book, it ended. I give this book 3/5 stars.

This book was very interesting. It kept me on my toes but at some points it was a little bit slow. I liked when Marcel almost got caught by the Gestapo because it made my heart beat faster. I also really liked when Marcel was delivering messages by bike because he really wanted to help. “How far did you ride today.... about 3 kilometers...”

This story takes place in a small town in France. Marcel lives in a small home above his parents bakery. The German nazis have taken over most of France, including his town. He delivers messages through bread to other family’s in his town, and sometimes even out of his town. “Pedaling along the cobblestone, he once again reached the edge of the town.”
