- The name (Silvija) originates from the Latin word for forest Silva and its meaning is spirit of the wood. The mythological god of the forest was associated with the figure of Silvanus.
- Traditions in naminig people in Croatia - in the past, parents used to give names to their children which were already in the family - that means that they gave names of their parents, grandparents....to their children. Now, there is no rule for that. People give names which they usually like - some of them are traditional and some of them are modern.

I recived my name from my Grandmother – she simply decided: „It is Agnieszka”. 

The meaning of name „Agnieszka” comes from Latin and it means „chaste”. 

In Christian history there was a Saint Agnes - a virgin martyred during the persecutions of one of Roman`s emperors. The name became associated with Latin agnus "lamb". Thus, Saint Agnes was frequently pictured with a lamb by her side.

Today my name is one of the most popular names in Poland.
