*** A warm hellooo to you all, dear participants and Rita! My name is Silvija and I'm from Croatia. I'm looking forward meeting you in March :)***

- The name (Silvija) originates from the Latin word for forest Silva and its meaning is spirit of the wood. The mythological god of the forest was associated with the figure of Silvanus.
- Traditions in naminig people in Croatia - in the past, parents used to give names to their children which were already in the family - that means that they gave names of their parents, grandparents....to their children. Now, there is no rule for that. People give names which they usually like - some of them are traditional and some of them are modern.

The name has a variety of forms, the English one is Margaret, but I prefer Marge or Margo. Originally it was a Greek name which means "pearl".

According to the Bible Margaret is the patron of the homeless and falsely accused people, also of all the difficult and hopeless matters.

It is a real coincidence that I live now in a small village which has changed its name after World War II. Before that, for 300 years, its real name was Margareth:)
