The biggest problem of the Gilded Age was economic inequality, an economic issue that manifested in severe disparities between the wealthy elite and the struggling working class. A small elite amassed immense wealth while the majority of workers lived in poverty. This stark divide bred resentment and social unrest, as the wealthy elite wielded disproportionate political influence, prioritizing their interests over the needs of ordinary citizens. The resulting societal rift fueled demands for reform, highlighting the need for a fairer and more equitable society. In conclusion, the economic inequality of the Gilded Age not only affected the livelihoods of many but also stifled political progress and social cohesion.

I think that child labor is the biggest problem in the gilded age, it was a social problem that exploited children to work for very low payment, this is a problem because kids working in factories could easily die or get injured, any it would take away there childhood. This caused both trauma and developmental problems in kids, not only not being in an environment for them the meet there developmental needs but also a toxic and abusive environment. If they made it to adulthood they would not know how to do many things and would struggle to function as a human.

I think the biggest issue in the gilded age is child labor. This is a social problem. I think it is one of the biggest issues because making children labor to the point where they are “surviving” instead of “living” is ruining future generations. With these kids dying, getting lifelong injuries physically and mentally affects future societies. These kids do not have the space to grow as a CHILD which is crucial to grow into a functioning adult. Adults during this time just thought about the fact that they are getting more stuff done in little time, they weren’t thinking about the fact that these kids that they are working to the bone are the future of the world.

I think that health and disease was the biggest problem of the gilded age because many lower class individuals were put in unsafe living condition's. For example when watching the video about Jacob Riis we learned that tenements in big city’s are poorly constructed and people were forced to live with multiple families just cause that’s all most people could afford back then. This is definitely a economic problem because in 1900 the pay to housing ratio was terrible

I think that child labor was one of the worst things along with the work environment that people were in. i think this because there were children that are supposed to play and have fun which is actually very important for the upbringing of a child. the children could leave they had to work a whole shift that an adult was working and it was bad conditions for the adults so is was especially bad for the children that were working as well. the work places were gross, dirty and most of all not safe, many people got hurt or even killed. once you got hurt most of the time you would get fired. i think this was economical because the economy industry let this happen and let the kids work, and let everyone work in horrible conditions and ways.

The biggest issue of the gilded age was the horrible conditions of everyday life, which includes work and housing. These conditions were fueled by many other issues, namely immigration and money-hungry people. Industrial leaders were so blinded by their want for riches that they didn't care about the conditions of their workers, only about how little the workers could be paid for their own benefit. With the flood of people from other countries, housing had to be made quickly to accommodate all of them, leading to them being cheaper and having cut corners such as proper ventilation and basic needs such as proper sewage. But that sewage had to go somewhere, so to the streets it went. Disease and illness ran rampant through the streets, affecting everyone without a proper home. All for this combined led to adults living in a very terrible environment, let alone children.

I think that food packing and handling was the biggest effect, because there was no regulations, no sanitizing which caused diseases, getting sick(scarlet fever, smallpox, and diphtheria to spread)

I think the biggest problem in 1900s america is child labor. Child labor is the biggest issue because the children is our future. We need to take care of our children and not put them in the hard and dangerous conditions.

An issue in the Gilded Age was tenements that were unsafe for people to live in during this time. For example people were crowded in small spaces in the tenements. This would be a economic issue because tenements were created in big cities causing them to be crowded and people were having issues living in tenements.

I think the biggest issue of the gilded age was the widespread political corruption. While tenements affected people living in the cities, the laws affected everyone. Corrupt politicians took bribes and allowed tycoons to exploit workers and ignore the law to gain wealth. This led to the wage gap and widespread poverty.

I think the biggest problem of the Gilded Age is the living state of the lower class. Most people during this period lived in slums, many outside, having to roam the streets filled with sludge, pests, and sickness. Other people lived in tenements that were dirty, crowded, had bathrooms and sinks that were in the hallways and no privacy. This issue is an economic issue. I think this is the biggest problem of the Gilded Age because the lower class was forced to live in dirty, unsafe and unpleasant states. The elite class had done the least to help the lower class' cause letting them stay in an unhealthy state, putting them at risk of worse things to come.

The biggest issue of the Gilded Age is the social and economic injustice and inequality. Despite the occurrence of industrialists and prominent figures amassing wealth, the working class is facing poverty, poor working conditions, low wages, and little job security or value as an employee. Paired with the political corruption the inequality and unjust treatment toward the general population creates the biggest issue. Because of the nature of this time period the economic instability led to poverty which in turn created bigger issues such as the usage of child labor forces, disease, starvation, and other factors that greatly reduced the quality of life for the American citizen.
