When communicating with parents I reconmmend using email or an Edmodo account. These are both fast and easy ways to communicate with parents and let them know what is going on in the classroom. You can use these forms of technology to also let them know about upcoming assignments.

I believe that the best way to communicate with parents should be up to each individual parent. If you choose to communicate through email, but you have a student in the class whose parent never checks their email, that would be ineffective. So the best way to avoid that would be to contact each parent at the beginning of the school year and learn from them the best way to contact them.

I believe the best way to communicate with parents will be on an individual preference. Believe it or not, there are some rural areas that do not have good internet signal and those parents might not be able to check the emails or Edmodo or even Facebook. These parents might like it best just to send notes back and forth or set up a time to meet face to face when you need to speak to them about their child.

Communication between the teacher and parents or guardians of the students is very important. I don't really believe there is a "best way" to communicate. As long as there is communication; the teacher and parents/guardians should be able to work together to help the student succeed.

Face to Face is probably the best way to communicate with parents but also sending out newsletters like Alexis said below because having the parents or guardians sign the paper makes sure that they have looked at it. Some areas that we may be teaching in don't always have ways to get to technology to look at emails that we may have sent earlier in the week.

communication is key! Although some parents have a busy life with work and kids, sometimes having a conversation with the teacher of their students can be hard to find time for. Sending notes home with students is complicated because the messenger (the student) can lose or misplace the note. I think at the beginning of the school year the teacher should have a form asking the parents which is the best way to communicate though out the school year. Some parents can do face to face while others can only communicate though email though out the day. Getting Emails and phone numbers is an important way to communicate with the parents of your students.

Communication with parents is an element of teaching that I feel gets over-looked a lot. While most parents are busy with work, and other responsibilities, school is not a day-care service. While unfortunately there are some parents who will not not be involved in their child's learning and school experience, that is not the case with everyone. I feel it should be up the parent their preferred method of contact, whether that be email, phone, online face-calls, or meetings.

I think it depends on the parent. Maybe at the beginning of the year, you could ask each parent how they prefer to be contacted. With some issues it would need to be face-to-face, but others could simply be solved through a text or email.
