In both the book and article, 'Society vs. The Individual in Arthur Miller's The Crucible', they mention Puritan views. For example the article states, "the action takes place in 1692 [in a society] ...based on Puritan principles" (2). 'The Crucible' reads, "... a combine of state and religious power whose function was to keep the community together" (7). So explain how Puritan ideals played a role. </div>]]></description>
