I believe that this experience could spark many conversations amongst students, Isn't the water too cold for the ducks? How can they swim in the freezing cold water? What do they eat for food in the winter? Do ducks fly south in the winter? Do ducks still lay eggs in the winter? These types of conversations open opportunities to discuss how different animals experience the winter, what hibernation is and how different animals adapt their life styles to temperature changes.
