“I get anxiety knowing that the tests count more than classwork or schoolwork,” Kiana said. “It’s a make or break kind of thing.”

This is a connection for me because I realized in the recent years students have had a spike in depression, anxiety and suicides. There has to be a connection between the two. Young children can only handle so much pressure, some adults can only handle so much. I think it is evident that we are doing our children a disservice.

“I get anxiety knowing that the tests count more than classwork or schoolwork,”

In the past few weeks, we have lost countless hours of learning time due to state or district mandated testing. This is not only effecting students, it is also effecting teachers, as we all feel like we don't have enough time to actually teach. Students feel the stress of constantly being in a testing environment, not being able to share ideas or socialize in an academically productive way.
