Rings

I wear 6 rings on a daily basis, which is a lot but they're all super precious to me because they've all been passed down in my family. They include: both of my late grandparents wedding bands, a claddagh that's been passed down in my family for ages (and somehow lost the stone in the center along the way), my moms high school class ring, my mothers lucky horseshoe ring she got when she was in middle school, and a daisy that she wore throughout high school which she said reminded her of me. These rings are all so special to me because they were given to me with intention. When I look down at my hands I feel connected to my family, and specifically the women in my family, because I know that the tradition of passing down jewelry, especially the claddagh, is sacred.

Best Friends Necklace/Bracelet

I've known my best friend Lauren for a really long time and when we were in elementary school we bought these matching friendship bracelets (hers was a pink unicorn that said "best", mine is a purple one that says "friends") and once we grew and they no longer fit to wear on our wrists, we decided to attach them to necklaces. I don't really wear it much because it was a cheap chain and is super rusty, but it's nice to look at when I want to reminisce a little bit.

Nose and Monkey

Nose and Monkey were my favorite stuffed animals growing up and honestly they still just make me so happy to look at. I know people say that you outgrow stuffed animals, but I think that's a myth and I know I'll probably still have these guys in my house when I'm an adult.

A.S. Hinds Bottle

This one is kind of random seeming at first, but one of my hobbies is bottle digging. A lot of people don't really know what it is, but basically bottle digging is when you search old maps of towns to find where they used to have the town dump, go there (it's usually in the woods so you get a fun hike along the way), look through old glass and ceramics, and then do research to try and approximately date when the things you find are from. There is actually a bottle dump I found in Princeton that was pretty much untouched and I got this bottle there. It's from a skin cream and from my research it is most likely from between 1870 and 1910 at some point, likely around the 1880s. Bottles like this make me happy because I worked hard and did a lot of research to find them and then to age them, so it's a reflection of that. Now I use it to store incense sticks.

A couple of summers ago I went with one of my friends to live with her aunt in Germany for part of the summer. It was a wild experience because it was my first time traveling without my parents, and I spoke only a little bit of German beforehand. Basically nobody around me except my friend spoke much English though, so I picked up on German pretty quickly and it was all good. Right before I left my friends surprised me with a photo book they had made including pictures of us and these are my favorite pages because I honestly spent the bulk of the time I was there (other than when I was camping) swimming in the Lake of Constance and eating a lot of really good food made by my friends aunt.
