History:

Back on 2004, Despite being the largest task force in the USA nurses were not much involved in health informatics technology and they didn’t have a voice in the selections and design of it.

From this recognized fact, in addition to the educational needs in nursing practice; nursing leaders on national wide decided to initiate TIGER (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform ), with a defined mission and vision through organizing a national Summit.
As an outcome of the Summit, a future action plan was created. The plan aimed to build up a collaborative community focused on nursing education and practice in relation to health informatics technology.
After the summit, teams were built and multiple reports were developed for standards and usability, virtual platforms to share learning. In addition to reports on faculty requirement and developments. On 2015, TIGER was moved under HIMMS and became internationally recognized.
In the last 5 years a great accomplishments was achieved. One of them is establishing an integrated course. Another one is introducing the aspect of stimulation in the education field by merging academic with practice setting.
The TIGER objective is to make the Informatics as a core element in our practice regardless the specialty we are practicing in. The goal is to move into a globalized informatics competency.
One of the major outcomes of the TIGER was the birth of a virtual learning environment. As an informatics specialist , this will be a great support for us to help in sharing learning and knowledge and have access to valuable resources in health informatics.

The tiger initiative start at 2004 was volunteer work until 2015 got under himes were mainly focused on nurse but tried to involve more practitioners their main aim to provide more nurses informations in to the field they lunched virtual platforms and excellent education materials were that also provide free newsletter subscription it also has a competency synthesis project which has 21 countries volunteers to globalize informatics competency to reform curriculum and standards ultimately help to know the different practice of each country of their area of strength and weaknesses .
it could help us as informatics specialist as a material resource ,as it provide us with VLE whlearning tool and update our informatics knowledge.
