She soon encounters a young man named Franklin, who offers her a dangerous job as a drug mule. With cocaine pellets in her stomach, Maria flies to New York with her two friends who have also become lured into the industry, for the drug drop-off.  

One of her friends named Lucy becomes ill, and Maria soon finds her new line of work may be far riskier than it initially seemed. Having run away with the drugs Maria and Blanca find Carla, Lucy’s sister and eventually tell her some unfortunate news. Maria and Blanca finally decide to return the pellets to the drop-off and receive their money. However, will Maria return to Columbia with her unborn child.  

 

It showed us how vulnerable young women are in a society like that and can be trapped into this illegal industry.  

However, the ending of the film was left on a cliff hanger which really annoyed me. I would like to know what happens to Maria and if she has her child.  

I really enjoyed the movie besides the ending. I recognized a lot of Spanish vocab throughout the film.
