Definition of Property:

Cohesion holds hydrogen bonds together to create surface tension on water where water particles will stick to one another.
Real World Application:

Water Drops: Water drops being stuck at the end of a pine needle and water drops pile onto each other until it gets too heavy and falls. They’re composed of water molecules that like to stick together.

Human and/or Global Impact:
Relationship to Chemistry: Cohesive forces are responsible for a surface tension, which is the resistance of a surface to rupture(burst) when it is tensed up. Cohesion is a natural property of a molecule, determined by its shape, structure, and electric charge distribution. When cohesive molecules approach each other, the electrical attraction between portions of each molecule hold them together to stick. Each water molecule can form four hydrogen bonds with neighbor molecules.
Relationship to Chemistry: Cohesion is what makes up a whole, without cohesion we wouldn't have full amounts of water or liquids or solids.
Relationship to Water Cycle:The water particles of the same substances stick to each other. Cohesion is important in the water cycle, because if you didn't have cohesion you couldn't make a drop of water since one drop is made up out of millions of molecules of water.

Definition of Property: The cohesive forces between liquid molecules are known as surface tension (tension of the surface film of a liquid caused by the attraction of the particles in the surface layer by the bulk of the liquid).
Real World Application:Walking on water: Small insects like water striders can accomplish this because they’re really light weighted. Can’t penetrate the surface.Floating a needle on water: This can happen if the surface tension doesn’t break up.
Human and/or Global Impact: Surface tension is very important in the earth's compound, water. "Normal" water at ambient temperature has a high surface tension, but different chemicals can change this. Without surface tension, even the smallest objects would sink under water.
Relationship to Chemistry: Surface tension is the energy or work that increases the surface area of a liquid due to intermolecular forces. Since intermolecular forces differ depending on the nature of the liquid (water vs. gasoline) or solutes in the liquid (surfactants), each solution shows depending on surface tension properties.
Relationship to Water Cycle:Once the downward force of gravity is stronger than the upwards force of liquid, it will sink. If it’s the opposite, then things will be able to float. A tightness across the surface of water caused by polar molecules pulls on each other.
