Kindness is established in this book in chapter 17 when Mr. Browne puts a precept up on the board that said, "When given a choice between being right and being kind, choose kind." This was a sign of kindness. 

Friendship is established in this book when his best friend moves to New York City and he does not have any other friends until he goes to Beecher Prep and met Summer and Jack.

-how he came to life because he explained how before he was born the doctors saw small anomalies. Right when he was born he was rushed out of the hospital room by the doctor. His mother did not get to see him until after he had a surgery on his face. 
- his first day at school because he meets all of his teachers and he meets a new best friend named Summer. 
- finding out that Jack wasn't his friend. This is important because he thought he was his best friend from the beginning and he ended up not being. 
- getting up at graduation because I think this made him feel that he meant something to some people at that school.
