In the film "Edward Scissorhands" Tim Burton explores the genre of fairy tale.
A young man named Edward, with scissors for hands, has finally come out of hiding from a very mysterious castle, after a lady named Peg stumbled across Edward while selling make-up. To express this story of love and heart ache, the genre of fairy tale is used to greatly project this.

Tim Burton express this genre of fairy tale with the scene where the inventors factory is being displayed, while cookies are being made. In this scene the factory helps show the genre of fairy tale because it displays how magical and enchanting the world of Edward Scissorhands is. Another important scene demonstrating the genre of fairy tale is when Peg decides to sell make-up to Edward. She stumbles across his enchanting castle and starts to wonder through it. This scene has a very important role of displaying the genre of fairy tale because it is at the start of the film and it is introducing us to the genre. This scene of the castle shows the genre of fairy tale because you are getting a tour this weird and wonderful place, thus displaying that one of the genres of the film is fairy tale.

In the end, the genre of fairy tale is crucial in telling the story of Edward Scissorhands. WWithout the genre of fairy tale, the film would be plain and would lack any emotion.

Two Aspects of Film Techniques

Two film techniques that help show the genre of fairy tale are mise-en-scene and the sound.

Mise-en-scene helps convey the genre of fairy tale in the film Edward Scissorhands because the costumes and make-up have a very imaginary tone to them, this helps convey the genre of fairy tale. Without the Mise-en-scene the genre of fairy wouldn't come across as easily and you might mistake the film as just another story.

The soundtrack helps convey the genre of fairy tale. One song in particular is, "The Castle on the Hill". This song helps convey the genre of fairy tale because it sounds very enchanted and mysterious, giving the feeling of a fairy tale.

Connections between other Novels, Films and TV

The genre of fairy tale makes a connection with a lot of other films, novels and TV shows. Fairy tale is a very common genre in most films. Frozen is an example of another fairy tale. I chose frozen as a connection to the genre of fairy tale because Frozen is actually based on a fairy tale called "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen. I also chose the film Shrek as a connection to the genre of fairy tale. Shrek contains many unrealistic but magical creatures such as an ogre, therefore making Shrek a fairy tale.
