Athletes use Androgenic Anabolic steroids frequently to induce muscle strength and help with aesthetic appearance. AAS affects many aspects of the cardiovascular system from the changes in the structure of the heart to effects on hyperlipidemia and hypertension. The primary purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding of the effects of AAS on cardiovascular health in athletes, including the social determinants of health and identifying whether and athlete from a certain country is more likely to experience the harms of AAS.

In comparison to their urban counterparts, rural communities have long suffered minimal access to healthcare, primarily due to extensive hospital drive times. As is such, rurality increases both the risk of cardiovascular disease and incidence of heart failure. However, preventative care, through rehabilitation programs and support systems, can mitigate the consequences of rural landscapes. This review aims to address and present solutions to aid rural communities in receiving healthcare access.

Introduction:

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a rapidly progressive neurodegrnerative disorder and is the most common cause of dementia, affecting 5 million people, with the number expected to triple by 2050. AD, while primarily attributed to aging, can be impacted by social determinants of health as well. Factors like education, socieoceonomic status, geoagraphic barriers, etc have all been shown to impact the course of AD progression. This paper aims to demonstrate SDOH impact on the Alzheimer’s epidemic by identifying at-risk populations and structural changes that affect long-term cognitive outcomes for various communities.

This literature review aims to dive deeper into the link between social isolation and CVD risk by compiling and synthesizing data from five experimental studies. The goal is to emphasize the harm loneliness could impose, not just on one’s mental state, but on one’s physical wellbeing as well. By examining the physiological impacts of loneliness on the heart, we can learn to prioritize initiatives regarding social interaction.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common liver condition in people who do not consume high levels of alcohol, affecting 25-30 percent of the U.S. population. It results from excessive fat accumulation in the liver, often due to overeating and a sedentary lifestyle. NAFLD disproportionately affects people who have a low socioeconomic status (SES). It is more prevalent in minority groups, veterans, and the elderly. Over 70% of people with NAFLD have diabetes mellitus and/or obesity. The primary purpose of this paper is to identify how SES andobesity together influence NAFLD prevalence in regions or communities with low SES.
