Thoreau's quote on dreams provides some insight to transcendentalist thought. A simple life can lead to simple experience. The world should be experienced as it should be. Living deliberately leads to a direct seeking of your goals. That's the point of transcendentalism. To live as you may, to live simply as you proceed in your own doings.

In modern society there are multitudes of problems afoot. We as a species we see technology as our own advancement, but it truly is a virus. We have benefited greatly from modern technology, but commercial technology is our major problem. How much do you use your phone? The initial reason we have created the phone was for quick contact and networking. But, this has evolved into a dangerous and controlling beast. When a fellow classmate was given the option to give up her phone for a mere six/six-and-a-half hours, she responded in fear and weakness. "NO! NO! No! I'm not doing that!" This is a major fault in our society. We've become reliant to our phones as a man in the Iron Lung. In the past society functioned fully well without these small ways to connect. With social media, we are one tweet away from nuclear war with North Korea. Phones are, for some, an epidemic turning us into recluse. Don't we still socialize with others? Well we do, but face to face conversations have become the taboo. A junkie needs their heroin, a modern teenager needs there phone. Yes, I am a hypocrite. But, how can't I? I as one of these modern teenagers abide by my phone as law. I don't use it in class unless I can, nor do I constantly put my life on blast for the world to see. I am human, a fish in the school but alone to itself.

Material items I'd bring would be only a few things. Most likely I'd bring a large hunting knife and a small journal/book of plant identification. Maybe also some start of flint to make sparks to start a fire. I'd say goodbye to my family day-of. I could not leave without telling them of my leaving. The most important thing would be that. I'd prioritize my own survival. And may end up converting to beliefs in polytheism, for the effect of something being along side of me.

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer." He who doesn't follow the crowd follows them-self. A clique is a group of friends. A group are like-thinkers. Someone who goes there own way and are independent in their path discover a world of intrigue. I've never personally known someone as this type. I myself would beat to my own drum. But in darkness there is no light. I did this out of sadness, not of inspiration. I was a shut-in. But in nature a shut-in is not alone. The air fills their mind as trees a forest. Animals run bye and holler, breathing life into the atmosphere of loneliness.

The same path leads to two different roads. Frost takes the path less traveled by. This can be akin to decision making. Two choices and he picked the less likely of the two. Life branches in many ways. We drive both physical and mental roads every day. We make mistakes as time goes on, and we wish to go back and change our path, but we cannot.
