Yes her life does represent the free spirit of the Roaring Twenties. She seems to be care-free and does whatever she wants when she wants. Hitting Myrtle was probably the only thing she’s really felt guilt or remorse for in her entire life. She can drink and party all day I’d she wants to, no responsibilities or anything to be held accountable for. Just fun all the time.

I think daisy is talking about how she already has a good life. She is living the way she wants to live and enjoying herself with Tom.
Gatsby on the other hand is trying so hard to get the one thing he wants and because of this reality he has made, he doesn't' see what's best for the one that he loves. If he loved her that much than he would want the best for daisy, and not try to force an old reality.

Yes it does represent the free spirit of the twenties. She puts herself above people because she’s upper class and she’s very concerned about fashion and appearance. Although She doesn’t listen to Tom I thinks he does make her own decisions and she wouldn’t admit to never loving Tom even when Gatsby was forcing her to say it. She is a very different character and her whole life she has been pursued but she is still her own person and didn’t leave Tom for him. She cared too much about money and there was a quote even saying her voice “sounded like money” which represents her character and how important riches are to her.

Now that we fully understand Daisy's character, we know she's actually perfect for Tom. She isn't the best person, either. She claims to be sophisticated, but she's actually fairly immature. Her spirit does represent the free spirit of the roaring 20s: immature, nonchalant, and crazy. Especially party crazy.

It seems like she is saying this because she watches the people who participate in the activities that are prevalent in the roaring twenties and started to as the book progressed be apart of them a litttle bit. She has been through a good amount of stuff like haveing to decide between two guys. She is caught up in the never boring culture of the twenties despite her and Tom not even being completely apart of it. It seems like there is never a dull moment. There is constant drama and daisy is right in the middle of it.

Daisy’s life doesn’t in my mind represent the roaring twenties because she isn’t parting all the time and living life to the fullest. In my mind Gatsby’s life represents the roaring twenties because he is at parties and living life. He didn’t exactly party with his guests but he he threw the parties in hope of daisy showing up. In the quote daisy says she is sophisticated but I don’t think that is the case. Like we discussed the other day in class there are lots of characters coming of age and I think that daisy is a little to immature to be as sophisticated as she claims.

She moved on from Gatsby when he went to war because she believed that he could not support he life and the way she wanted to live. She was a trophy wife and didn't what things to be so complicated and that why I think she said she was so sophisticated. Her life was going really good at the time and she had Tom even though he was cheating on her at the time she didn't want to make things difficult. She just really wanted to live a lavish life and she had that. In the roaring twenties so many crazy things happen and that is represented throughout her life by all things that had happen including killing Daisy but it didn't seem to even bother her that much.

Daisy uses her money as a way of making herself better then other people, she cares about fancy objects and is a very superficial person. Yes, I think Daisy's life is a fair representation of of the free spirited 20's era. She lives extravagantly, marries a rich man to do the work for her, she drinks often and acts as desirable item, as many women of that time did. When she says she's is sophisticated, i think she is trying to imply that she is far from the naive ditzy women that surround her. However her statement is a bit ironic since she proves to the readers throughout the book that she can often be careless and a tad air-headed. Daisy could also be trying to put a point across that her way of life is sophisticated and to some extent she's exactly right, she lives in a classy house, and dines with scholars and business men.

The definition of Sophisticated means to have, reveal, or proceed from a great deal of worldly experience and knowledge of fashion and culture. Throughout the novel I do feel as if Daisy is sophisticated. Daisy is more of an old money kind of women and has been raised in the old money style. When Daisy attends Gatsby party she did not enjoy it. Daisy thought all of the excessive partying was too much and she wasn't use to that kind of stuff. Daisy believes she is more sophisticated than all of the new money people who are all very extravagant. Daisy likes more of the old fashion things like her colonial house and doesn't act as crazy as the other new money people which makes her to be sophisticated.

I would also say that another point that proves she is like the free spirit of the roaring 20's because she can go to the city whenever she wants and also she doesn't even have to take care of her own child she has servants who do that for her. "Sophisticated-god, I'm sophisticated!"
is what Daisy says on page 17. I think that she says this, but it's Fitzgerald trying to point out how she actually isn't "sophisticated". I think that Daisy's definition of sophisticated is very different from the actual definition. It seems like she just thinks she is sophisticated because she has money and because she doesn't have to do anything except be a trophy wife.

After reading and knowing more about daisy, she meant that she was from the upper class and not affiliated with other characters such as Gatsby, Nick, and George Wilson, most of whom we meet later in the novel. In my opinion, yes, Daisy's life definitely represents the free spirit of the Roaring Twenties, due to the fact that she is rich, doesn't really have many problems, and has no care for anyone but herself.

Daisy has a pretty flighty and submissive personality as it is. She is the stereotypical wealthy house wife of the 1920's.
The quote said by Daisy clashes against this though, "Sophisticated-God, I'm sophisticated" (17). I believe that Daisy is not saying this out of flaunting her intelligence but rather out of pity. In book she says this to Nick right after explaining how she hopes her child is a "beautiful little fool" (17). Therefore the meaning of the previous quote is that Daisy wishes she was oblivious to the wrong choices shes made in the past and of Tom's affairs. A lot of people would argue the opposite but I believe that Daisy really is deep down is pretty smart.
