For instance, the relationship between Gat and Cadence might have looked different if we knew Gat's thoughts. -Erasing/covering up people who leave the family
-We see this when Cadence and her family becomes awkward when Gat brings up a family member who is no longer with them
-Harris is making a new Sinclair house. This might be because he has too many memories with his wife Tipper there 
-Cadence is becoming impatient and confronts her mother about erasing her father from existence and her mother just pushes it aside
-Cadene remembers the accident. This means that the Liars are dead and that all she did with the Liars that summer was an illusion. This illusion might have been created to show how people in the real world can experience and deal with grief. This gives us an interesting and enlightening perspective on how those people might be feeling and what Cadence experiences happens to some people who lost someone close to them. So to everyone around you, you might look deranged, confused and crazy, but in your mind you live your normal life with those who passed away.

It's connected to the grief because once Cadence's father left them, they didn't want to remember him for the good person he was or to be sad that he left, but rather erase him from their lives. Burlington might be symbolic for that your home isn't always a home. Even though Cadence lives in Berlington she doesn't feel like it's very homelike. One can also think that Berlington is symbolic for perfection since everything in the house is richlooking and the house is a place with only happiness. Texts can offer you insight to real world problems, but some books are very symbolic and you have to analyze it to find the social issues, while some books just serves it right to you so you don't have to think to much to get the deeper meaning. When reading a texts it's also important to know when the text was written because it might change the way you look at the situations in the book. Beechwood is a place for joy and fun where the kid always run around smiling. Later in the book Beechwood becomes more murky and mysterious and we get the feeling that something is going on there. Just like Berlington, Beechwood is connected to the theme about grief. The biggest event that connects Beechwood to the theme is when Harris builts a new house when his wife, Tipper, dies because he want to erase her from their life and he gets really angry when Cadence starts asking him where all the old stuff is. Beechwood is a prime example of how money can't buy happiness. Even though everyone is having a great time at Bechwood, something gloomy is going on there and there are always conflicts there regarding heratige and money. So even though money bought them the island and with it some happiness it's also what's splitting them apart. It might be a long shot, but I think Beechwood could represent peoples inner emotions. Your emotions are always fluxiating and if you keep your emotions inside of you they will start taring you down.
