A communication tool that can be used to tell a story, review a book or showcase students' work.

I found a seminar on classrooms of the future particularly interesting. It made me reflect on how a lot of the programs that we use in schools in England are not available in other countries. For example a program being created in the UAE is very similar to Google classroom and a mathematics program that we use in the ICT class at the school I work in. Although this program is still being developed and introduced in classrooms like Dubai, these programmes are well established and have been used in primary school across East London for some time. This makes me think about the development of programs that we use in our class to teach the students and whether there may be more developed programmes in other countries, that we do not yet have access to. Clearly all children do not have the same opportunities depending on their region.
It also made me reflect on whether these countries have other ,more beneficial ways to teach as we sometimes as facilitators depend on the internet and technology. But schools in other countries have progressed well without it. How much do we really need technology in our classroom? And is it replacing traditional teaching methods?

Hope - s1904498

All games and activities are tracked and timed in a user friendly environment to show which students have played specific games. Teachers have the ability to place their own questions and quizzes in many of the games. They can also set tasks for them to follow, complete within deadlines and receive feedback.

This seminar was particularly interesting because it discussed how a school transformed their teaching and learning using technology. Rather than standing at the front of the classroom and teaching the lesson, the use of technology allowed teachers to walk around the class and teach the lesson. Students were also more engaged and took ownership of their learning.
Shabna

I found this seminar to be very eye-opening. The seminar focused on the use of technology, particularly the Microsoft One Note in order to enhance their children’s learning. It had a significant impact on both students achievements and their engagement and well-being. The One Note also impacted positively on the environment, as there is no use of printing pages unnecessarily as everything can be accessed online, and it also offers a solution for children’s absences, as they can complete their work from home and their teacher can mark from their desk. Lastly it also reduces teacher workload. Attached is an image used from the presentation outlining the SAMR model of technology integration.
- Halima

An education stand we sat in was the Alef Future Classroom Experience, a platform which demonstrated how the use of artificial intelligence and online platforms benefits learners, staff and parents.

A link that I have made is how similar this platform is to platforms implemented in schools across the UK. For example, The City Academy uses an online platform where children are able to access lesson contents and resources to support home learning, Berger primary school and Shacklewell primary school uses an online platform where children are able to access and post homework and parents can use the portal keep informed with school events and child progress because the teachers post grades and feedback.

I found it interesting how similar ideas are being explored and implemented across the world at different times as the idea of e-learning has only recently been introduced to the UAE (according to Alef). I also found it interesting how the futuristic classrooms resembled current ICT classrooms which also resembles classrooms from the 19th-century (minus the technology-something discussed in 6005 lecture). For me, sitting the futuristic class room felt like sitting in the ICT classroom I first sat in when I was in year seven (in 2005).

The exhibit that caught my eyes the most was Scottie Go!.
Scottie Go! is an educational app that was discovered in Poland 🇵🇱 to teach children programming and coding. Scottie Go! products are a series of innovative and unique educational games, which introduce students to computational thinking and the world of programming. The Scottie Go! app can be accessed both within the classroom and home environment where pupils, parents and teachers can engage in helping the Alien called Scottie to navigate around Earth through the use of coding. There are a range of Scottie Go! programmes such as Scottie Go! Discovers The World Of Coding, Scottie Go! Dojo and Scottie Go! Basic that are available for children in the EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Furthermore, Scottie Go! Combines efficient learning with lots of fun. This interactive educational tool is compliant with the school curriculum which allows children to meet their learning goals. This programme stimulates pupils learning as it helps students become experts in algorithmic thinking and develop their 21st century skills, such as CRITICAL THINKING, PROBLEM SOLVING and COLLABORATION. Finally, the most astonishing element of Scottie Go! is that it promotes inclusive practice for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners who are able to access Scottie Go! in their mother tongue language. It programmes in over 22 languages worldwide. Having a programme that works in multiple languages enables parents who do not speak English to engage and teach their children coding using their home language.
- Tamina Begum

The OneNote enables teachers to organize lesson plans and course content, collect homework and provide individual support. The speakers emphasized on the common refrain that 'technology cannot replace poor teaching'. However, they also stated that technology in the hand of a teacher can be really powerful.
Khadiza

This piece of techonology at the show was very interesting and unique to see. This is literally building your own coding robot which can assist both the teacher and the learner in lessons as well as, for the learner to develop and expand on skills such as creativity, problem solving, socialising and communicating with their classmates and the teacher. This goes along with the idea of building and using your own creation because learner's can learn through trial and error, be informed about coding through ICT lessons which is an essential part when using any type of technology. From this experience, I have learned that with technology it should not be about keeping children from electronics in this day and age because this is not a successful answer. However, it is about children learning and understanding how to use and work with technology, because they can learn a lot just by using any form of it.
