Animal welfare and rights group Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will be filing charges against the man accused of killing Killua, a golden retriever dog, in Camarines Sur on march 17. The act was caught in a closed-circuit television footage posted on social media by Killua’s owner Vina Rachelle Arazas. Solares was seen hitting the dog as it ran around trying to escape.

Paws, in a statement, said they will lodge complaints versus Anthony Solares over the death of the canine named Killua, whose story went viral on social media. They specify inconsistencies between the suspect’s claims and recordings from a surveillance footage showing Solares chasing and then beating the canine.

March 17, 2024 — Following the distress caused by events of the tragic, purely sudden killing of a Golden Retriever, named Killua, a rampant rise of grief followed the lives of not only the owner of the said dog, but of a majority of the citizens catching up with the report.

Killua, beloved by his pet owners, was brutally killed and situated inside of a jute sack by perpetrator, Anthony Solares, stating that the actions he did were a "self-defense" response, even if he was the primary person to take Killua to a slaughterhouse on a nearby karinderya.

With the help of the dog owner's neighbors and the village manager, they gathered video evidence portraying the exact events that happened prior to the killing of the golden retriever, pointing to Solares as the one suspect criminally-liable to the death of Killua, as the primary person present moving viciously to obtain the entire physicality of the dog, leading to its demise. Additional information from the witnesses also state that Killua was in a state of shock and anxiety, following the dog's fall from the house gate.

With the evidence presented, the dog owners then proceeded to take legal action against Solares in his alleged violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, as amended by RA No. 10631, and section 11(7) of RA No. 9482 or the Anti-Rabies Act.

On the other hand, PAWS, being a well-known organization for animal defense and holistic well-being, also filed a case against Solares. Their report then concluded that there might be a contamination within the remains of Killua's body since the dog's grave was situated in a rabies-infected group of soil for five days.

This then caused a division between digital citizens within the issue. The case continues to be unresolved as justice has not yet been served and Solares is not seen behind bars. Even after the slaughtering and the alleged self-defense mechanisms proclaimed by Solares, the life of Killua continues to be violently unalived, leaving their owners distraught and misled.

The dog’s slaughtered body was soon found in a sack near a Karinderya. Killua’s owner Vina Rachelle Arazas, under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, sues the killer of the dog by the PAW'S filing of complaint.

That's when the owner called for help from "Enteng," the watchman of Barangay Tres Reyes who was the one responsible of the dog. The authorities and the owner wanted to sue Anthony Solares for killing and beating up the dog.
