For example, the three branches of government are very important, and they were influenced by the Romans. Another influence from the Romans was voting. Voting was very important to the Romans and only their citizens could vote. However, unlike today, women in Rome were not allowed the right to vote. The Romans originally got the idea of arches from the Etruscan people. These arches were used to enable building such as buildings, bridges, and aqueducts. They also helped support heavy weight of a building. The Romans took architecture to the next level, displaying their wonderful designs in their engineering. Roads were an important part in the Roman economy, as it was the fastest way to travel. Built to survive for years to come, Roman roads were made up of concrete and other many layers of brickwork. Roman roads were so durable, that they still exist today, even after being built around 2000 years ago. Romans used the roads to improve life for the empire.
