The Romans influenced the way we have made our government today. For example, the three branches of government are very important, and they were influenced by the Romans. Another influence from the Romans was voting. Voting was very important to the Romans and only their citizens could vote. However, unlike today, women in Rome were not allowed the right to vote. The picture that I have here is of a poster for voting and represents the Roman achievement of voting.

Architecture is the way that buildings are designed and is closely similar to engineering. The Romans originally got the idea of arches from the Etruscan people. These arches were used to enable building such as buildings, bridges, and aqueducts. They also helped support heavy weight of a building. The Romans took architecture to the next level, displaying their wonderful designs in their engineering. For my Roman achievement of architecture picture, I chose an arch, built into a hotel building like the Colosseum in Rome.

A commonly well known influence of engineering from the Romans are their roads. Roads were an important part in the Roman economy, as it was the fastest way to travel. Built to survive for years to come, Roman roads were made up of concrete and other many layers of brickwork. Roman roads were so durable, that they still exist today, even after being built around 2000 years ago. Romans used the roads to improve life for the empire. For Roman engineering achievement, I chose to take a picture of a road outside of my house.
