This story doesn't rely on the illustration, instead it has substantial text. While there are illustrations, they aren't more important than the text. The text is incredibly moving and helps to teach the reader about dementia and how a child can help. The authors note was a definition of dementia and memories to help the readers understand what the text was about if they don't have that background knowledge.

This text is true to the substance of the original work and holds the same viewpoint as what the author intended. The text makes sense as it is translated, not awkward or "Americanized." This is shown through the words that are kept in Latin. This helps the reader to sense that the book is from another country.

Yes! The child in this story is doing everything she can to help her grandpa remember everything he is forgetting. Grandpa is also convincing as he is suddenly not remembering the words he used to know off the tip of his tongue. Grandma is also convincing as she didn't first notice what was going on until Grandpa walked out of the house one night.
