Mi Escuela

A la escuela en Costa Rica, yo tengo cinco clases. Mi primera periodo es la clase de matemáticas y mi segunda periodo es la clase de ciencias. Tengo la clase de historia en mi tercero periodo. La clase de español es cuarta y la clase de inglés es quinta. La escuela empieza a las ocho de la mañana. Termina a las tres de la tarde. En la escuela hay muchos profesores y estudiantes. Nosotros hablamos, escribir, escuchar, y leer todos los dias. Es muy importante a prestamos atención y tomar apuntes en la escuela.

La Casa

En Costa Rica, vivo en un apartamento. Tiene dos pisos pero es pequeño. Es de piedra, viejo, y gris. En mi apartamento, hay un comedor, dos dormitorios, el cuarto, una cosina, y un baño. Tengo una computadora y un televisión. También tengo un teléfono en mi apartamento. Hay no techo. Mis hermanas y yo dormimos en un dormitorio y mis padres dormir en el otro dormitorio.

Mi Familia

Mi hermana menor es Maddie. Tiene doce años. Ella es rubia y alta. Ellie es mi hermana mucho menor. Ella es rubia también y simpática. Tiene nueve años. David y Lindy son mis padres. Tienen cuarenta y cinco años. Mi madre es generosa y morena. Mi padre es trabajador y guapo.

El Tiempo Libre

Me gusta ir al cine con mi familia. Vemos una pelicula el primera dia en Costa Rica. Tambien me gusta acampando. Acampamos en el bosque lluvioso. Tiene muchos calores. Es bonito y mojado también. Mi padre y yo hacemos una fogata y charlar en la noche. Estoy escribiendo a mi amiga que estr en los Estados Unidos y observar una iguana trepando un árbol. La iguana es azul y armarillo. También me gusta jugar al fútbol. Jugo al fútbol con los niños del pueblo en Costa Rica.

La Comida/De Compras

Tengo que ir al mercado para comprar la comida con el apartamento. Comemos los huevos y la fruta para el desayuno. Para el almuerzo y la cena comemos el arroz y el pollo. Me gusta beber el agua y la limonada rosada. También compro muchas ropas. Compro tres camisetas y dos pantalones cortos. Compro dos vestidos y una gorra también. En total cuestan 22657 colones.

La Comunidad

En la comunidad donde visito, hay un río y una playa. Es muchos árboles cerca de la playa. Hay no carreteras cerca de esta pueblo. Mi apartamento está en la parte pequeña del pueblo. A las dos y media de la tarde, desayunar en un restaurante bonito. Tiene mi comida favorita todos los dias; tamales. En mi comunidad hay un parque también. Todos los niños de la comunidad jugar al béisbol cada domingo. También hay las montañas en el pueblo. Son muy grande. Mi comunidad en Costa Rica es mi lugar favorito.

PART 3: REFLECTION IN ENGLISH

I have noticed that in Spanish words are conjugated very differently than in English. In Spanish, the conjugations of verbs look very similar to the infinitive, but in English they look very different. Another change is that apostrophes are not used in Spanish while they are in English. I loved learning about Costa Rican culture this year. It’s made me want to visit Costa Rica sometime in my future. I had no idea that there was such biodiversity. I also didn’t know about all the different geography there. The rainforests sound incredible. It would be so cool to see all the wildlife living there. I also love the fact that communities are as close as a family and that entire families live together in one community. If I continue to study the Spanish language, I hope to learn more tenses than just the present tense. I want to be able to talk about things I have done and things I am going to do. I also want to learn a lot more about Costa Rica’s culture. I think it’s fascinating and I really want to know all that I can. I liked learning with this online class because it allowed me to work at my own pace. I also enjoyed that fact that I could work from school or from home to complete my assignments. However, I did not like the fact that I could not talk to a live person at all during this course except during the RLCs. It would’ve been very helpful to be able to ask questions in person to get the explanations I was looking for. Having a live teacher would’ve also helped with the speaking aspect of learning Spanish. This is because I did not get as much practice with it outside of the speaking assignments. More practice with speaking might’ve helped with this. I made Quizlet sets that helped me learn the vocabulary. I practiced some each night so that I would remember everything. To improve my own Spanish leaning in the future, I could study even more and expose myself to Spanish-speaking people. This would help me to become more fluent. My instructor helped me with my learning by providing thorough feedback on all of my assignments. She also gave us links to use for studying and grammar practice. A little more explaination on some questions I had would’ve helped me. Posting the instructions to the final projects on the announcements at the beginning of each unit so we would be able to work on them as we go would’ve been helpful as well.
