         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this exercise we've analyzed two telephone rates and we've drawn them as functions in a graphic. The first rate has a payment of 10 cents for every minute of phone call; the second one has a payment of 8 cents when we answer and another payment of 8 cents for every minute of the phone call. Analyzing the two rates we understand that the first rate is cheaper when we make a phone call which lasts less than four minutes, instead the second one is cheaper when we make a phone call which lasts more than four minutes; a phone call of four minutes has the same cost for both of them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>CONCRACT 1:</em></strong> 10 cents per minute without connection fee</div><div> </div><div><strong><em>CONTRACT 2:</em></strong> 8 cents per minute and 8 cents of connection fee</div><div> </div><div> The function <strong>y = 10x </strong>is a linear and direct function that represents the first telephone rate. It’s linear because we have the angular coefficient <strong>m </strong>which is equal to 10 and the known term <strong>q</strong> is equal to 0; it is direct too because the relation between the values of <strong>x </strong>and <strong>y </strong>is always constant; so when <strong>x</strong> doubles <strong>y</strong> doubles too.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>The function <strong>y = 8x + 8 </strong>is a linear function; but it isn’t a direct function and represents the second telephone rate. It is linear because the angular coefficient <strong>m</strong> and the known term <strong>q</strong> are equal to 8; it isn’t direct, because the relation between the values of <strong>x </strong>and<strong> y</strong> isn’t constant. </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>THE CLARIFICATIONS ABOUT THE TWO FUNCTIONS ARE:</div><div> </div><div>Ø The point in which the graphs of the two functions cross represents the moment in which the telephone rates have the same cost. The two contracts have the same cost when the duration of the call is 5 minutes, so the price is 40 cents.</div><div> </div><div>Ø The point in which the graphs of the fuctions meet the axis of the coordinates corresponds  at origin, that for the first function is equal to 0, whereas for the second is equal to 8.</div><div> </div><div>Ø The inclination of the fees corresponding to the value of the angular coefficient, that in the first function is equal to 10, whereas in the second one to 8.</div><div> </div><div>Ø The contract 1 is more convenient on calls lesser than 4 minutes, whereas it is more convenient the contract 2 on calls which last more  than 4 minutes.<br>Well done!<br>Who are you?</div>]]></description>
